“Would be sweet, maybe.”

Kinja'd!!!

“Probably a safe and responsible choice.”

Kinja'd!!!

“A bit out of what my price range will probably be.”

And then of course Civics, Accords, Corollas, and any other cheapish small car. Giving up on tC dreams since there are none in Saskatchewan. Here’s hoping that the market is good in the three or four days I’m going to have to look at cars.

CSX? Fancy Canadian Civic.

But then I’d have to drive a Jeep.

If I could find one at a decent price, yes.

Do you guys get the Kia Forte up there?

Sure do!

You should check out the Forte SX, especially in the hatch form. Asta and Matrix are kind of old now and with the problems I’ve had with my Sonic as of late I would say skip it.

So you’re too good for an honest little TJ but you think a Saturn Astra is “sweet” and aspire to own a Chevy Sonic, which is a shitbox among shitboxes?

Well, I’m more planning for the price range. I’d just need it to last me a year until I could afford something newer. So I’m good with an older car.

Oh I can understand that. I would say go for the Matrix then, an XRS if you can. Reliable, roomy, good on gas.

The Astra is a cool car, but the big sunroof was only available on the 4-door, not the 2-door.

The Matrix XRS/Vibe GT is awesome with the 2ZZ

There are also some cool cars you got up there that we didn’t get down here, like the Nissan X-Trail, Acura CSX, the non-electric B-Class, Echo hatchback, and you guys still get the Rondo and Mazda 5 and both available with a manual transmission (the Rondo was never available with one in the US). And don’t forget about the Nissan Micra too :o)

Those last ones are all cool options, but the Echo is a bit crap, and everything else is not in my price range.

The Echo is not crap! It is a quality Japanese Toyota that will give you many enjoyable miles with no problems :)

What is your price range?

Under $8k at the moment, but I’ll have a better idea in a few months.

Cheap, very reliable, pretty good on gas, peppy enough and can easily be found with a stick! You could get no options or basic creature comforts, depending. Mine has never let me down, so if you consider one, feel free to ask any questions!

8k will get you a ton of reliable vehicles. You could get two Corollas and drive one on even days and one on odd days..

At least in the U.S. you could on earlier models. The combo was eventually removed by around 2011.

Seeing one in an add is how I learned the came with manual and AWD. I thought the add was mislabeled, but it was not. Also, apparently 2012 cars came with a 6 speed manual.
